deBut album - The Lucky ones - out Now
Merseystate can only be described as the lyrical commentary of our lives and times
Merseystate was conceived in May 2008, after founding members Wayne Joshua and Shai Caleb decided it was time to put their extensive experience playing
with many other Top SA bands since 1998 to good use and produce an album that would truly reflect their individual skill and sophistication. Being heavily influenced by the likes of Sting, Snow Patrol and the Beatles, the name Merseystate was chosen.
After meeting Marcel Fuchs of the local Indie Label Rivendale Records, the band decided to enter into a mutually beneficial partnership and then spend the next 6 months in their studio, recording what today can only be described as a complex and up to date contemporary Rock album, yet commercially viable with good hooks on every track. The final product including album cover and presentation is as polished as any quality international Rock Band and is receiving airplay on most commercial radio stations.
Shortly after completion, the Band and Label embarked on a promotional overseas trip and was fortunate enough to have meetings with a number of "A&R"
Managers and Directors of some of the Majors, all of which expressed a keen interest in the further development of the band and have to date maintained in regular contact.
In addition the band toured the UK and Germany, which was an incredible journey preluding their debut release.
Meeting with all relevant TV and Radio station resulted in a deal being struck with the countries main TV station “SABC3” who, suitably impressed with the product, agreed to air a Promotional Commercial for several months, as well as running an additional Radio Advert on their partnering radio stations.
A simple yet effective Music Video of the bands first single New Jersey Girl was produced and is now receiving airplay across all TV channels. This immediately has lead to the radio stations taking note of the album and catapulted the Single New Jersey Girl to the No.2 position on the Top8@8 and No.6 on the Nokia Top 40, after only having been play-listed 5 weeks prior. Some of the Countries leading stations such as 94.7 Highfeld Stereo, 5fm, Kfm and Goodhope Radio have given Merseystate incredible support, ensuring continuous airplay on their stations.
A Video for their 3rd and biggest single to date, Say,Say,Say, is in post production and will air on S.A. Television in November 2009 as well as a release on MTV Europe and various music channels in Europe.
Both leading social entertainment programs “Top Billing” and “Showbiz Report” have done full features on Merseystate, taking advantage of the stunning setting of their Dreamspace recording Studio.
Merseystate will be touring SA’s main cities, with TV and Radio again having confirmed to promote such events.
Merseystate have been playlisted on germanys biggest youth rock station 1 live
An international tour showcasing the band in Europe has been planned for 2010.
